Alora is not mentioned in the guide books. This is because it is slightly more inland than most tourists will visit, and therefore is totally overlooked. And long may this continue, to protect us from tourist coaches and over development!
Alora is a traditional bustling white pueblo blanco. It has everything you could possibly need, apart from dedicated tourist shops! There is a large supermarket, plenty of banks and cash points, pharamacies, fruit and vegetable shops, bakeries, newsagents and of course plenty of tapas bars and restaurants (Spanish and International).
Alora is also just 40 minutes from Malaga airport, and is ideally situated to tour inland Andalucia. Finca Leria is just 2km from Alora town.
Alora Sites and Attractions
Emm, there are not that many! This is probably why we are blessed with very few coastal tourists making there way into Alora. Alora does have a castle and the oldest Andalucian Church. But, the beauty of Alora is that it is still very Spanish and it's location.....within the Andalucian Lake District, is perfect.
Alora Bars and Restaurants
What Alora lacks in tourist attractions is more than compensated by the many bars and restaurants. Here are the highlights of just a few......
Kanka Bar: Located at the entrance of Alora, with gardens and swimming pool. Perfect for a cocktail drink and tapas in the evening.
De Knaf: This is a trendy beer bar in the centre of Alora, open from 1pm until late. It offers clients beer which they can help themselves to from their very own table beer pump. Great for light tapas at lunchtime, and pizza in the evening.
Cafe Bar Alora: Modern Spanish tapas bar. Great for morning coffee and lunch.
Correas: Owned by scandanavians, this tapas bar offers International food at very reasonable prices. It is the only place in Alora to serve smoked salmon, and delicious chocolate cake. Open in the evenings only during the summer.
Rocabella: This is a good restaurant, located about 20 minutes drive from the Finca. Great for views. Rocabella serves mainly Spanish and some International cuisine, very large portions, avoid the starters so that you can get through your main course! Open all day and everyday during the summer.
Plus there are plenty of ventas. The one located opposite our road has fantastic views over the valley and serves very good food, particularly fish. Open all day and evening.
Total driving time from Finca Leria: 5 minutes
